Upcoming Appearances: Corporate, Scholarly, and More--Oh My!
Events with Yours Truly, coming right up.
Hey all,
I’m writing to announce a few upcoming events at which I am appearing!
As previously announced, I am presenting my journal article on author James Baldwin’s writing about music this week at the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association (PCA/ACA) annual conference!!!
On April 8, I am presenting a story with Tellin’ Tales Theatre as part of a corporate gig for Wintrust Bank!! The event is closed to the public. Tellin’ Tales is a great organization that attempts to bridge the disabled and non-disabled worlds, and I am excited to continue to be a part of it.
On May 2, my friend, novelist MV Perry, and I, both born and raised on the North Shore of suburban Chicago, are presenting an authors event, Neurodiversity, Autism, and Mental Health, at my hometown library, the Wilmette Public Library!!! We are going to be reading from our work, talking about issues for Mental Health Awareness Month, and facilitating an audience Q&A.
As High School Communications Contest Chair for the Illinois Woman’s Press Association, I am presenting—and accepting, for wins in the Professional Contest—awards for our annual IWPA Awards Luncheon in Lockport, IL on May 25. By then, the results will be in for the national high school contest that Illinois First Place winners go on to—we are all excited to find out the results!
In other news, I am writing something to be hopefully accepted for the storytelling show You’re Being Ridiculous. And I’m hoping to hear about my 33 1/3 GENRE book proposal on ‘90s country, any day now. And I *might* end up writing an article for a print music magazine, which would be a first.
Plus, I have different work projects, readings I’m doing for different essays, and some meditative writing that I’m attempting again as part of an improved self-care routine in which I am also cutting back on sugar. I’m almost at 3 months off caffeine!
Thanks for reading, and I hope all is well with all of you,
Josh Friedberg
Awesome, and you are busy!
